Shasta Dam and Lake
Mt. Shasta rises in the distance behind the Shasta Dam. The dam, located north of Redding, was built from 1938 to 1945 as a continuous pour concrete project. The information center features historic photographs and displays. Visitors can walk across the dam and take a guided tour inside the dam, as well as view its massive spillway. Shasta Lake is a national destination for houseboating and other water recreation.
